The ITF has produced a series of marketing materials for national federations to support the inaugural World Tennis Day.

World Tennis Day will be held on Monday 04 March 2013 and will be centred around a series of high profile exhibition events around the world, including the well-established BNP Paribas Showdown in New York’s Madison Square Garden and a new event, BNP Paribas Showdown in Asia World Arena in Hong Kong. Each of the events, organised by the promoter StarGames, will feature current and former professionals including John McEnroe, Li Na, Serena Williams and Rafa Nadal, together with demonstrations of the ITF Tennis10s programme aimed at increasing participation among young players around the world.

Alongside these events, the ITF will be encouraging its 210 National Associations to support World Tennis Day with their own grassroots and club activities to attract new participants to the sport or to use the day to promote tennis participation activities that will be taking place later in the year with particular emphasis on Tennis10s.

The following national federations have declared their support for the event and have scheduled activities locally: Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, Egypt, Argentina, Mexico, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Uruguay, Cambodia and Norway.

The ITF’s Tennis10s programme, which promotes the use of slower and lower bouncing balls, shorter and lighter rackets, and smaller courts to make it easier for children to take up the game. Tennis10s is a supporting programme of the Tennis Play and Stay campaign, the ITF’s global initiative launched in 2007 aimed at increasing tennis participation worldwide. Tennis Play and Stay centres around the slogan of ‘Serve, Rally and Score’ and seeks to promote tennis as an easy, fun and healthy sport.

“Tennis Play and Stay and Tennis10s are programmes with proven success in growing participation,” said Dave Miley, ITF Executive Director of Development. “This initiative will give both the ITF and our member nations a great opportunity to showcase and draw extra attention to what they are doing to grow tennis in their countries through World Tennis Day.”

The World Tennis Day marketing materials are available in the related content section at the bottom of this page, in both English and Spanish. An A4 poster, A6 postcard and display banner are available to download and print locally.
